At a flea market, I picked up a postcard written to Oscar Burkland in Seattle, Washington. The postmark is dated 15 Sep 1911, from Buffalo, New York. I paid two dollars for it. I'd like to reunite it with a family member for my cost plus postage.

In researching Oscar Burkland I found in the 1910 census here Oscar living as son, age 14 with his parents John Burkland and Anna in Seattle. John and Anne were both born in Finland, but John and his younger sister Celia age 10, were born in Washington.

It's likely he is the Oscar Burkland who per the SSDI here was born 27 Jan 1896, got his SSI Card from California, and died Sep 1979, last resident of Portland, Oregon.

This is then his WWI Draft Card stating Oscar C Burkland, born 27 Jan 1896 in Seattle, Washington, resident of Los Angeles, where he was a Druggist, he was 5'11", slender, blue eyes, light hair, dated 5 Jun 1917.

He is buried here stating : "Oscar Carl Burkland, Service Info.: MM2 US NAVY WORLD WAR I, Birth Date: 27 Jan 1896, Death Date: 28 Sep 1979, Service Start Date: 11 Dec 1917, Interment Date: 2 Oct 1979, Cemetery: Willamette National Cemetery, Cemetery Address: 11800 SE MT. Scott Boulevard Portland, OR 97266, Buried At: Section N Site 1702"
