William Blaine "Bill" Richardson, (b 1947), US Democratic candidate in the 2008 Presidential election, and currently the Governor of New Mexico.

William Blaine Richardson III

Bill Richardson was born 15 Nov 1947 in Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California, the son of William Blaine Richardson, Jr by his wife Maria Luisa Lopez-Collada Marquez.

In 1972, Bill married Barbara Flavin. He was elected, as a Democrat, to the Ninety-eight congress in 1982, and served in that position until he resigned in 1997. United States Ambassador to the United Nations 1997-98; Secretary of Energy 1998-2001.

He is currently the Governor of New Mexico, and ran on the Democratic ticket for the US Presidential Election of 2008. His Democratic challengers were: Hillary Clinton, Christopher Dodd, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Mike Gravel.
