They had an elder son Kenneth Dryden Richardson born in 1949. Douglas graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1973 with a B.A. in History and then the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1977 with an M.A. in History. Douglas married Rozanne Somerville on [[Dec 31]], 1980 and they had six children: Wayne H, Elizabeth G, Avyette A, Mary E S, Joan E, and William M. As of 1990 the family lived in Bethany, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.
