The Manor House was evidently in the hands of Thomas Smythe and his wife Margaret, when in 1562, for 280 pounds they sold it to Francis Cotton. Seven years later, in 1569, Francis Cotton and his wife Alice convey it to Brian Cave much improved. Brian Cave and his wife Bridget Skipwith, of Ingarsby, feoff the Manor to William Brocas in 1573.

By 1590 when there is a recovery by John Gobart, the manorlands have been much reduced, in fact it would appear perhaps that they have been divided in two albeit unequal portions.
