By 1892, the family had moved to Arkadelphia, [[Clark County, Arkansas|Clark County]], [[Arkansas]] except perhaps Sarah who apparently stayed in Tennessee.  In Arkadelphia, according to the book ''Clark County Past and Present'' he "...played cornet in Dwight Blake's band and in 1916 became director of the Arkadelphia Band.  He married an Okolona girl and taught music and tuned pianos in that town until his death."  His brother Charles was a painter.

He married Ollie Lucille Shackleford between 1918 and 1920, probably in Clark County, Arkansas.  They had one child, born Aug 1930, who is still living.  Ollie filed for divorce [[Sep 24]], 1930 in Peoria, Maricopa County, [[Arizona]] (Degree #32512) "...the address listed for him was unknown."  He has no tombstone at Rose Hill Cemetery in Arkadelphia but "Dudley's family is buried there."
