Dudley Hastings Richardson was born [[Mar 8]], 1879, in Erin, Houston County, [[Tennessee]], the son of W B Richardson and his wife Josephine Dudley.

By 1916 he had moved to Arkadelphia, [[Clark County, Arkansas]] where according to the book ''Clark County Past and Present'' he "...played cornet in Dwight Blake's band and in 1916 became director of the Arkadelphia Band.  He married an Okolona girl and taught music and tuned pianos in that town until his death."  His brother Charles was a painter.
