During WWII Henry Fonda served in the Navy, even though he was exempt.  For this he received a Bronze Star.  In 1946 he played Wyatt Earp in ''My Darling Clementine''.  In 1948 Henry returned to Broadway starring in ''Mister Roberts'' for it's multi-year run, ending sometime in 1950.  He would reprise this role for the 1955 film version.
