About 1842, he was the administrator of the Simon Miller estate in Franklin County, where he states that he is the "only heir as will appear from the will."  By this he must mean that his father left his entire estate to him, as Jesse had several siblings some still living.  The will of Simon Miller has not been found.  Jesse was also elected as a member of the House of Representatives this year.
