Constance Robertson was born about 1902/3 in Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel Richard Robertson by his wife Martha Elizabeth Hughes. By about 1909, the family had moved to Denver, Colorado, where her father was admitted to the bar in 1913. About 1919/21 she married Lucius Foster, probably in Denver, and they had two surviving children: Courtenay and Lucius Jr both born in Colorado.  They were probably married by the time of the 1920 census, as she does not appear that year in the household of her parents in Denver.
