Lambert was born about 1445 at Emmerich, in the Duchy of Cleves.  He was a Burgher who came with [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engelbert,_Count_of_Nevers Engelbert of Cleves, Count of Nevers] to France. This happened perhaps when Engelbert became Count of Nevers and Eu in 1491.  Lambert settled in Paris sometime after 1470.  He married three times, and had fourteen children.
