So either Gladys was still seeing him, even though divorced, or Marilyn's father was someone else.

Norma Jean married first to James Dougherty who recently died.  Before his death, James wrote a book about his marriage to Marilyn Monroe.  While James was away fighting in World War II, Marilyn took a job working at the Radioplane factory.
