How-to stop bleeding gums

Easily, cheaply and permanently

My experience with a history of bleeding gums and how I conquered the problem.

Ever since I can remember it seemed that when I brushed my teeth, my gums would bleed some.  Soft toothbrushes, toothpaste for sensitive teeth, flossing every day, none of these things completely fixed the problem.  My dentist would tell me that I could gargle with peroxide and baking soda, which is nasty and you can't do that all the time as it starts having a negative effect, making your gums recede.

When I would get my teeth cleaned, they would bleed a lot and I always got the lecture about the proper way to brush your teeth and floss.  It's pretty annoying when you are doing that, and it still doesn't completely fix the problem.  You get the feeling the dentist or hygienist doesn't believe you.  Every trip to the dentist meant more cavities, root canals, fillings, and expense of course.

One time, completely on a lark, my partner bought a product to try himself.  He didn't like the taste and so I took it.  The first day I used it, I noticed that there was no blood in my toothpaste-spit.  I noticed it, I didn't think too much about it.  Then the second day, the third day, the fourth day, nothing.  No more blood when I brushed my teeth.

Soon, I went for my scheduled teeth cleaning.  As the hygienist was working, without any prompting from me, she said, "Your gums are not bleeding like they normally do."  The hygienist stays with me the whole time, and the dentist then comes in later, from down the hall.  I say this, to make you realize that there was no way, she could have said anything to him, and no way he could have overheard what she had said.

He probes around in my mouth and say, "your gums aren't bleeding".  Then he says, "your teeth aren't stained as they normally are, what have you been doing?"  This is already a pretty good sales pitch isn't it?  But it gets better, because that was seven years ago.  Since then, I've never had a problem with my teeth.

No toothaches, no bleeding gums, no sensitive teeth, no tartar buildup.

I've only changed one thing in my routine, and the product isn't even for this problem.

The product my partner bought, was to try to address stains on his teeth caused by smoking.  I don't smoke.  The product is marketed as the "Smoker's Mouthwash".  It says nothing on it about other stains, bleeding gums, cavities, or any other issue -- just smoking (and maybe coffee stains).

The product is Targon.  You can buy it on Amazon for about six dollars for a 24 ounce bottle which will last you probably two weeks to a month. You just use about half-a-capful each day. Certainly worthwhile to keep the dentist's drill away.
