James Murray, 2nd Duke of Atholl had a daughter Charlotte Murray who was his sole heiress and thus became Sovereign of the Isle of Man when he died on 8 Jan 1764.  She however in 1765 sold her rights as Sovereign to the British Crown.  From that time to now, the Sovereign of the Isle of Man has been the Sovereign of Great Britain.
